Renewable energy systems engineering
End-to-end engineering, from preliminary design to works supervision or owner's assistance, supporting each project from identification through to performance monitoring after commissioning.
About
Hacsé is an independent engineering firm specialising in the technical and financial engineering of renewable energy systems, environmentally responsible construction projects and programmes providing access to water and electricity in rural areas.
Founded in France in 2007, Hacsé works in photovoltaics and bioclimatic construction while continuing to develop rural electrification and drinking water access projects internationally.
As an independent, human-scale structure, Hacsé gives its clients a responsiveness and flexibility that few large consultancies can offer, while drawing on a broad international network of expertise mobilised according to each project's specific needs.

Areas of expertise
From preliminary design to works supervision, Hacsé has the technical, organisational, economic and financial skills to support renewable energy projects.
End-to-end engineering, from preliminary design to works supervision or owner's assistance, supporting each project from identification through to performance monitoring after commissioning.
From large individual-kit electrification programmes to stand-alone mini-grids powered by hybrid plants, Hacsé has been supporting the sustainable deployment of facilities for 20 years, in more than 30 countries.
As the photovoltaic advisor to farmer groups, chambers of agriculture and agricultural trade unions, Hacsé has been supporting agricultural project owners since 2008, with more than 300 installations in operation.
Field experience focused on designing and operating hybrid systems that combine conventional and renewable sources, continuously informed by the monitoring of installations in operation.
For operators running activities in isolated locations — green hospitality, industry, health centres, telecoms — Hacsé designs and builds electricity generation systems based on local resources.
Expertise recognised nationally and internationally, both in grid-connected systems and stand-alone applications, called upon for standards development, audits and R&D programmes.
Our services
Upstream studies covering technical and economic aspects as well as institutional constraints, for projects of any scale. From opportunity assessment to the drafting of tender documents.
Management of projects under public (French MOP law) or private works supervision contracts, in France and on rural electrification programmes. Supervision of complex renewable energy sites and training of local teams.
Support for public and private project owners at every stage of their renewable energy or energy-efficiency project, from defining the need to handover of the works.
In-depth technical expertise for project owners, their legal departments and insurers, and analysis of complex failures for installers. Instrumentation of facilities to measure actual energy performance.
Production forecasting models, P50-P90 analyses and independent reviews for large-scale grid-connected photovoltaic plants. Fully independent analyses, valued by banks and financial institutions.
Preparatory studies for rural electrification projects to accurately assess electricity demand, carried out by local and international NGOs with in-depth knowledge of socio-cultural contexts.
Assistance to government agencies and international organisations in preparing their project documents: strategies, methodologies, logical frameworks, budgets and procurement plans.
Technical training in photovoltaics, hybrid systems and small-scale wind power. QualiPV- and QualiPhoton-accredited trainer. Several hundred installers and engineers trained across five continents.
Contribution to research projects, review of technical documents and participation in professional working groups. Etienne Sauvage is co-author of “ Électrifier l'Afrique rurale” (Observ'ER, 2019) and of the “ Guide méthodologique pour l'électrification rurale par mini-réseau”.
Evaluations of rural electrification projects for decision-makers and donors: technical audit, socio-economic and organisational framework assessment, upstream, at mid-term and after implementation.
